Hvad er stress?

Stress er en naturlig del af livet. Det er kroppens måde at reagere på pres og udfordringer, og i sin grundform kan stress være en drivkraft, der hjælper os med at yde vores bedste. Vi skelner dog mellem positiv og negativ stress.

  • Positiv stress:
    Opstår, når vi har en kortvarig høj belastning, men stadig føler os i kontrol. Den kan give os energi til at afslutte en opgave, løse en udfordring eller præstere bedre.
  • Negativ stress:
    Opstår, når presset bliver for stort og langvarigt, uden at vi føler, vi har kontrol over situationen. Her udskiller kroppen stresshormoner som kortisol og adrenalin, der i længden kan have skadelige effekter på både krop og sind.

Hvorfor oplever vi stress?

Stress er en overlevelsesmekanisme, vi har haft siden urtiden. Dengang var stressresponsen afgørende for at kunne flygte fra rovdyr eller skaffe mad. Kroppen reagerer stadig på samme måde i dag, men stressfaktorerne er ændret. I stedet for fysiske trusler er det nu deadlines, arbejdspres, relationelle konflikter og forventninger fra os selv og omgivelserne, der udløser stressresponsen.

Symptomer på stress

Stress kan vise sig på mange måder, og symptomerne varierer fra person til person. De mest almindelige symptomer inkluderer:

  • Fysiske:
    Hjertebanken, hovedpine, svimmelhed, træthed, muskelspændinger.
  • Psykiske:
    Uro, irritabilitet, nedtrykthed, koncentrationsbesvær, hukommelsesproblemer.
  • Adfærdsmæssige:
    beslutsomhed, søvnproblemer, overspisning eller appetitløshed, social tilbagetrækning.

Hvordan kan du håndtere og forebygge stress?

Det vigtigste i stresshåndtering er at tage stress alvorligt og handle i tide. Her er nogle strategier, du selv kan bruge: 

  • Natur og bevægelse:
    Gåture i naturen, motion og frisk luft hjælper med at regulere stressniveauet.
  • Søvn og restitution:
    Prioritér en god søvnhygiejne og tid til at lade op.
  • Mindfulness og åndedrætsøvelser:
    Træn din evne til at være til stede i nuet og skabe ro i krop og sind.
