Exam Anxiety
Exam anxiety can be overwhelming. You might experience it as a racing heart, sweaty palms, or a flurry of thoughts that set in long before the exam—or the very moment you sit down in front of the examiner. Perhaps you’ve experienced a mental blank, even though you were prepared. It can feel embarrassing, frustrating, or like a personal failure, and unfortunately, it can result in an exam score that doesn’t accurately reflect your abilities.
The truth is: exam anxiety is very common; over 40% of people experience it to a greater or lesser extent—and it says nothing about how capable you are or how much you have to offer. It simply means that your nervous system is overloaded, and that it’s reacting as if you’re in danger.
About Exam Anxiety
Exam anxiety affects both young people and adults—and it isn’t limited to certain types of people. It isn’t about intelligence, but about how the brain and body react to pressure, performance, and past experiences.
All of these things can trigger unconscious survival responses that hold you back, just when you need to be at your sharpest.
The good news is: those reactions can be changed. And it's never too late.
